Safeguarding is a priority at Big Church Festival and we appreciate our duty of care to protect and maintain the safety of all children, young people and vulnerable adults who attend the event. Big Church Festival has developed a policy to support all those attending and working at the event to put into practice the organisation’s commitment to safeguarding. They ask all teams working on the live event days to read this short prefis of the more detailed Safeguarding Policy (available on request). Please read through this document.
This guidance applies to all staff- including volunteers, food traders, contractors, youth workers, artists, and anyone working on behalf of Big Church Festival.
On site BCF have a dedicated safeguarding team, who are suitably trained and briefed, on duty from 08:00-00:00 throughout the event plus there is on call out of hours facilities too.
Safeguarding can be contacted via Event Control (channel 1). All Safeguarding Team will be wearing Pink Hi Viz jackets.
For the purpose of the policy, a child is any individual under the age of 16. A young person is any individual between the ages of 16 and 18. An adult that requires safeguarding is one that is considered to be over the age of 18 who has need of care and support, is experiencing, or at risk of, abuse or neglect; and as a result of those care and support needs is unable to protect themselves from either the risk of, or the experience of abuse or neglect.
